'Dibona' is named in memory of Dr Peter Metcalfe, much loved son, brother and uncle who died in a tragic climbing accident in the Lake District 22 April 2018 at the age of 46.
Peter was a great climber and adventurer, who climbed literally thousands of hills over the course of his short life, including the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. He was the rock and inspiration for many climbers, including my partner AJ Metcalfe.
This image is in memory of the many summits Peter reached! Literally and metaphorically... Peter also made a tremendous contribution working as part of a flood prevention research team at University of Lancaster, specialising in using computer modelling for flood risk management. His work was important and very well respected in the field.
