Recommended Tour of Scotland July 2023


We’ve put together some information to help you decide what to see in Scotland. Please have a read and refer to the map below. 

 

Here’s a little intro to the Cairngorms National Park where we’re building our home, because we love the outdoors! We’ve recommended where stay and a few things to do in the area.

 

 

You may wish to stop in at Drummond Castle and Garden on your way up to the Highlands.




Recommended Tour

We recommend 2 - 3 days in Edinburgh. 1 -2 days in St Andrews. 2 days in Pitlochry. A summary list is below, but here you’ll find a map with a full description of what to see and do!

Things to do in Edinburgh

  • Breakfast in a funky cafe on Cockburn Street
  • Tour of Edinburgh Castle
  • Lunch in the Tea Rooms at Edinburgh Castle
  • Stroll down Royal Mile
  • Tour of Holywood Palace
  • Check out George Street. Be sure to have drinks or drinks and dinner at the Dome!
  • The new St James Quarter on Princes Street
  • Cafe Royal for another meal, specialising in wine and seafood
  • Jazz Bar for late night music
  • Victoria Street
  • Royal Botanics
  • Open top bus tour

Near Edinburgh

Things to do in St Andrews

  • Stay at the Old Course Hotel
  • Golf, tons of courses in the area
  • New spa at the Old Course Hotel for ‘golf widows’
  • Lunch outside, at the Jigger Inn 
  • Choice of 266 Whiskies at Road Hole, Old Course Hotel
  • Walk along West Sands Beach and The Scores
  • Dinner at the Seafood Restaurant
  • Elie is a lovely seaside town. Have drinks outside or dinner at the Ship Inn
  • Forgans, an old golf club factory, is a restaurant with good vibe. They regularly have live music and ceilidh

En route to Pitlochry

  • Stay at Craigatin House, where I have reserved rooms for you until end Jan
  • My friend Rami’s new bakery (the Bakery Pitlochry), an Israeli who makes the best bagels in Scotland!
